Indiana Online, originally established as Indiana Online Academy, has been a transformative force in virtual education since its acquisition by the Central Indiana Educational Service Center (CIESC) in 2005. From modest beginnings with just 389 course enrollments in our first year, we have experienced remarkable growth, expanding to support over 35,000 course enrollments by summer and school year 2023-24.
Our consistent growth has allowed us to:
- Utilize more than 300 teachers
- Partner with over 300 schools across Indiana
- Employ staff with a combined education experience of more than 165 years
Strategic Partnerships
In 2013, we joined the Virtual Learning Leadership Alliance (VLLA), a nineteen-state consortium that has been instrumental in our development. This membership allows us to meet, share ideas, and continuously improve our programs.
We’ve built strong partnerships across Indiana, collaborating with institutions like Ivy Tech, Trine University, and the Indiana Donor Network. A highlight was being selected as one of seven programs for the Indiana Department of Education’s Indiana Course Access Portal (iCAP) pilot in 2018. Indiana Online remains an active iCAP provider, expanding educational opportunities for districts/schools across the state.
Accreditation and Recognition
Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our AdvancED/Cognia accreditations in 2009, 2014, and 2019, and our recent 2024 VLLA program accreditation.
Course Development Excellence
Our course development is first-class. We employ certified Instructional Designers and subject matter experts who follow a rigorous three-phase process using the Quality Matters rubric. Many of our staff have received specialized training, with some even serving on Quality Matters certification teams. This dedication has earned us course template and content certifications that demonstrate our commitment to high-quality online education.
Professional Leadership
Members of the Indiana Online staff have been honored to present at prestigious local and national conferences like Digital Learning Annual Conference (DLAC), Association of Educational Service Agencies (AESA), Future Education Technology Conference (FETC),Virtual Learning Leadership Alliance (VLLA), Indiana Connected Educators (ICE), Hoosier Educational Computer Coordinators (HECC), Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP), Indiana School Counselor Association (ISCA), Quality Matters, Rural Schools Summit, Indiana School Boards Association (ISBA), Innovation Runs Through It, and National Postsecondary Education Cooperative (NPEC), establishing ourselves as leaders in online learning.
As the largest non-profit online supplemental course provider in Indiana, our fundamental belief remains unchanged: every student can succeed in an online learning environment with proper support. We continue to create high-quality, innovative educational experiences that help learners from all backgrounds achieve their full educational potential.
Our journey is about more than just course delivery. We’re committed to breaking down educational barriers and providing access to quality learning regardless of a student’s location or circumstances. We will continue transforming online education in Indiana by constantly evolving and listening to our partner schools and their students’ needs.
